So been on a bit of a hiatus for a while as you may have noticed. Actually been on holiday in China for 2.5wks and just got back.
I grabbed one of these today – a lens that I’d be hunting for ages. Finally I have it!
I know alot of people are still very undecided over the look a fisheye produces.
Here’s some I quickly shot today:
What an amazing combination, one of, if not the best canon lens I have ever had the pleasure of using.
Excellent colour rendition, superb bokeh, magnificent subject isolation, and so sharp wide open at f/1.2.
Amazing lens. Can’t wait to use it at some functions/parties.
Anyway here are a few from today:
Just ordered a 5D mark II and a 85mm f/1.2L II USM. Freakin’ excited. Can’t wait to play with both. WHOOOOO!
Having a new lens is always good fun, the 50mm f/1.2L USM is just amazing. The bokeh is so smooth and creamy unlike the 1.8 and 1.4 to some extent. My friend and I tested out the lens tonight with some low light fun – there was barely any natural light around, we stood under a street lamp in the city but apart from that it was near dark. Both were shot at f/1.2 at ISO2000 on a Canon 7D.
The iPhone is a powerful tool, it’s been surprising that I’ve taken a heap of photos with it. Some have actually turned out alright. It makes you focus on the important things such as composition and lighting as well as colours. As someone once said, “The best camera is the one you have with you”. Here are a few I’ve taken with my old iPhone 3GS:
First of all, let me thank Strobist for this idea. I made the mini studio like this: Strobist: How To: DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio
I fired my 580EX II from the right with a desk lamp on the left providing even (sort of) lighting. Two Speedlites would have a much better effect. Really good idea, quick and easy. Very professional looking results. Next project is to get some umbrellas!
Everyone has something they are crazy about. For me, it’s cycling, technology, the band Muse and photography.
Gear Porn has developed over the past few years and has become a bit of a craze. This concept has stemmed from another concept known as G.A.S. (otherwise known as Gear Acquisition Syndrome), of which I am afflicted.
Below is all my gear (minus a 50D which is boxed, ready to be sold – I have no need for 2 bodies at the moment anyway, the 15-85mm and 30mm also need to go).
- Canon EOS 7D
- Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
- Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
- Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
- Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM
- Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro
- Canon 135mm f/2.0L USM
- Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS USM
- Canon EF 1.4x II Extender
- Canon Speedlite 580EX II
Now to take all of this kit and do some shooting with it.
Besides, it’s the guy (or gal) behind all this gear that matters, right?
