Annie’s 20th!
casual shoot.
Had some time after finally doing my Flight Experience – will include in a separate post, so decided to throw the 35L onto the 5D2 and take some snaps.
Still a work in progress but overall happy with the results:

Will post some pics from my Flight Experience in another post!

Big Day Out Perth 2012
A few quick shots from the Big Day Out Festival held in Perth over the weekend. Wasn’t too happy with them, but the S100 does a half decent job in low-light, so can’t really complain. Here are a few snaps:

Foster The People were amazing, as was Kimbra and Noel Gallagher. Very fitting that he chose to end with “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. The crowd surfing at the end of “Pumped Up Kicks” was insane. Mark, Cubbie and Mark all looked genuinely happy. Great show – highly recommend that you go see them!
Hopefully will be shooting some of these guys soon with my 5D!

Australia Day 2012
41 degrees, what better way to spend Australia Day 2012. Seriously though, an awesome day, look forward to it every year.
Had a nice relaxing day at a friend’s place followed by a family event. Also had the opportunity to use my new gear, which is always good fun. Here’s a collection:

Happy Australia Day! See you next year!

canon 5d2 + 85mm f/1.2L II USM
What an amazing combination, one of, if not the best canon lens I have ever had the pleasure of using.
Excellent colour rendition, superb bokeh, magnificent subject isolation, and so sharp wide open at f/1.2.
Amazing lens. Can’t wait to use it at some functions/parties.
Anyway here are a few from today:

I’m amazed at how well the photos just ‘pop’. None of these photos were sharped in PP, utterly jaw-dropping.
Will post more samples taken with this lens soon

Sam’s 21st
Pretty rare that my friends are still having 21st birthdays this year! Nonetheless, there are still a few. Here’s some from Sam’s! Great birthday, lovely people, great food, and live music, something I always like.

Used both my 7D and 5D Mark II, still getting used to the full frame-ness of the 5D. Wicked camera, but average AF system.
Heading to the airport this afternoon for some more shots, hopefully some action ones!

night shoot
Having a new lens is always good fun, the 50mm f/1.2L USM is just amazing. The bokeh is so smooth and creamy unlike the 1.8 and 1.4 to some extent. My friend and I tested out the lens tonight with some low light fun – there was barely any natural light around, we stood under a street lamp in the city but apart from that it was near dark. Both were shot at f/1.2 at ISO2000 on a Canon 7D.

Adjusted contrast, colours in Lightroom, along with conversion to black/white and added grain.

new year’s wedding
I think this is the first proper wedding I’ve ever been to, very sad I know. Lovely ceremony, the bride looked beautiful
Here are a few from the day:

Great fun, looking forward to the next one. First time I’ve used the S100 as well, it handles amazingly well, being able to shoot in RAW is an added bonus. Helps so much being able to clean it up after in Lightroom without losing much detail.

New Years Day 2012
Recently acquired a Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens. I must say, it’s an amazing lens, but very hard to get right. It is soft at f/1.2 (wide open) but some of the results are stunning. Here’s a few from New Years Day today.

Happy new year everyone! Hoping for an amazing 2012 for you all
