mini studio.

First of all, let me thank Strobist for this idea. I made the mini studio like this: Strobist: How To: DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM
Canon EF 135mm f/2L
Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
I fired my 580EX II from the right with a desk lamp on the left providing even (sort of) lighting. Two Speedlites would have a much better effect. Really good idea, quick and easy. Very professional looking results. Next project is to get some umbrellas!

Headed back to the airport (well sort of) today to do some spotting, something I haven’t done in ages. Had planned to check out the new viewing deck being built near runway 03 but don’t think that has finished yet and didn’t fancy a yelling at by security, so I decided to stop by at a nearby park very close to the threshold of runway 03.

Had some issues with softness – really need a Canon 100-400mm! The 1.4x extender is good but not fantastic and you do lose quite a bit of sharpness.

MH124 departing Perth Airport

Planning on heading back soon when the new viewing deck is complete. Oh and for those interested, the above plane (9M-MRL), a Boeing 777-200ER was operating MH124 from Perth to Kuala Lumpur.

snapshots of europe #2 – munich.

Germany is an unbelievable country. Despite the moments of darkness in the past, it’s moved forward and thrived to one of the most advanced nations in the EU.

Town Square, Munich
U-Bahn, Munich
Slick technology, friendly people, fascinating history, amazing architecture. Can’t wait to be back there.
The Olympic Park, BMW Museum, Town Square, Hofbrahaus are all worth visiting! Prost!
